Reuters - Research In Motion will be forced to slash the fees it charges carriers for BlackBerry service this year, an analyst said on Monday as another U.S. government customer edged away from the service, cutting into a pillar of the struggling smartphone company's business model.

Appolicious - We often learn of Android devices when they launch in some faraway land. It seems Japan, China, the UK and Australia get to have all the fun, but this week we learned of a few Android devices that are making their way stateside. Sony’s Tablet P is said to be hitting AT&T shelves right now, while Toshiba’s ultra-thin Excite tablet plans to preempt the iPad 3 reveal with a U.S. launch on March 6. We also take a look at Fujitsu’s latest prototype, demoed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week.

Digital Trends - This last week has been fascinating. Both Apple and Microsoft introduced their new operating system for PCs. Interestingly, folks are raving about Windows 8 and ranting at OS X Mountain Lion. Both products are far from final and, of the two, Mountain Lion has far fewer changes. Given that we don’t like change, you’d think folks would like that. But it seems they are comparing Mountain Lion to iOS and the last version of the MacOS, and finding it either doesn’t change enough or changes too much. In short, Apple may have inadvertently announced a tweener product. I also think we are seeing the first indication that Apple can’t function as well without Steve Jobs. Let me explain.
